Job Summary

• Responsible for ensuring that all drivers are properly scheduled to follow their routes, make all necessary deliveries and pickups.
• Schedule maintenance on trucks, ensure compliance with driving regulations and provide inputs to strategic decisions that affects operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Arrange fleets and fleets operational staff to provide support and schedule special event planning.
• Monitor and ensure fleet operation follows local and state rules.
• Coordinate routine servicing, repair of vehicle as at when required and maintain relevant documentations.
• Perform periodic vehicle inspection, report incidences, and provide recommendations to Head of Department.
• Liaise with the maintenance workshop to ensure prompt and complete service and repair of DCT trucks.
• Prepare and submit monthly fleet report.
• Facilitate and implement corrective actions and capacity building to manage entire fleet to achieve company’s objectives.
• Ensure that trucks and drivers logbooks are properly maintained for input of relevant documentations.
• Review and sign-off on periodic vehicle fueling requests in line with approved provisions.

Education and Work Experience

• First Degree or its equivalent in Transport and Logistics or procurement.
• Professional qualification in Chartered institute of logistics and transport (CILT)
• At least five (5) years of experience in a generalist logistics role.

• Supervise key terminal staff to monitor operations at the company truck terminals, ensuring workload is completed per customer expectations: efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Plan with Executive Management to determine the strategic direction of the Transport Department.
• Update and implement Divisional Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
• Liaise with Sales and Finance departments to ensure the right rate is appropriately charged on services rendered by company transport.
• Coordinate and inspect the complete documentation including drivers and vehicle licenses.
• Review and report logistics/fleet performance against plans.
• Build good working relationship with Regulatory Agencies to ensure smooth operation of the fleet.
• Ensure profitability by controlling costs and enhancing trip performance.
• Full responsibility for fleet maintenance and the mechanical workshops.
• Coordinate between Dangote Cement trucks and third-party transporters to ensure truck availability always.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Transport.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

• B.Sc / M.Sc in Social Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, or any related discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of related experience.
• 5 years’ Managerial experience.
• Relevant professional certification in Transport will be an added advantage.
