Updated on 6 November 2026 · How we verify
Quick answer: To get your JAMB profile code: Send NIN (space) your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone you will use for registration. You receive a 10-character code by SMS; it is tied to your NIN and that phone number for life. You need it to buy the UTME or Direct Entry e-PIN.

Step by step
- Make sure your NIN details (name, date of birth) are correct — JAMB pulls your biodata from NIMC and you cannot edit it later.
- From the phone you will use for JAMB, send the SMS: NIN<space>your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 (₦50 charge).
- Wait for the reply with your profile code. If it fails, confirm the NIN is correct and that the number has not been used by someone else.
- Use the code to buy the e-PIN at a bank, via USSD/Remita or at the CBT centre.
Common problems
- ‘NIN already used’: the NIN has a profile from a previous year — use that year’s phone number, or visit a JAMB office.
- No reply: network delay; wait 30 minutes before resending. Do not send from a different number.
- Wrong name on profile: correct it at NIMC first; JAMB mirrors NIMC.
- Lost phone: a JAMB office can migrate the profile to a new number with your NIN and ID.
