Updated on 6 November 2026 · How we verify
Quick answer: JAMB Direct Entry (DE) is the 200-level route for holders of ND, HND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB, Cambridge A-level, IB or a first degree. The 2027 DE form is expected at ₦5,700 (2026 fee), registration at JAMB state offices only, usually March–May (2026: 2 March – 25 April 2026 (extended to 8 May, then 22 May 2026)). You still need five O’Level credits including English and two subjects relevant to your course.

Who qualifies for Direct Entry
| Qualification | Typical requirement |
|---|---|
| ND / NID | Minimum Lower Credit (Upper Credit for competitive courses) in a related programme |
| HND | Minimum Lower Credit; some universities admit HND holders into 300 level |
| NCE | Merit or above in two relevant teaching subjects |
| IJMB / JUPEB | Minimum of 5–8 points from three subjects (varies by school) |
| A-level (Cambridge/NABTEB/IB) | At least two relevant passes |

How to register for JAMB Direct Entry
- Get your profile code: Send NIN (space) your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone you will use for registration.
- Buy the DE e-PIN (₦5,700) with the profile code.
- Go to a JAMB State or Zonal Office (DE is not done at ordinary CBT centres) with your certificates, O’Level results and NIN.
- Complete the form: institution, course, DE qualification details, O’Level results, biometrics.
- Upload your DE certificate/transcript as the school requests; many universities require transcripts sent directly to them by a deadline (e.g. FUNAAB 31 July 2026).
- Watch for the school’s DE screening/interview and check CAPS for your offer.
Direct Entry vs UTME
- No exam — DE is on paper qualifications.
- Entry at 200 level (300 for some HND holders), so a shorter degree.
- Fewer slots: most schools reserve 10–20% of admissions for DE.
- HND holders: the NUC ended HND-to-BSc top-up programmes in 2026; use DE into a regular degree instead.
